What should I wear to dance class?

Kids 12 years or under are required to wear practice sets that is Kurti top, pajama or leggings bottom with cotton dupatta tied at waist.

Older students are required to wear dance practice sarees with pajama pants or leggings or kurti with pajama pants with dupatta tied covering left shoulder and chest area and tied at waist.

Hair should be pulled back fully in a pony tail or braid and bindi should be worn.

Do I wear anything on my feet?

It’s a tradition to dance barefoot. No footwear is needed.

What if I miss a class, how can I catch up?

You have one make up class a month, if you miss a class due to a valid reason, you can reschedule that class within 30 days of time given that your level of classes are offered. You are also welcome to use the adavus library to self catch up on training.

Do I need to purchase any books to come to class?

Yes, it is required to purchase Abhinaya Darpanam book for theory knowledge.

Can I try a class before I decide to join officially?

You can, trial class is $35, and fees need to be paid before you attend your trial class.

Which days are classes?

We have both weekday and weekend class option.

Sunday 1-2pm Kids batch (Age 7-8)

Sunday 2:30-3:30pm Kids beginner batch (Age 5-6)

Saturday morning 9:30-10:30am Kids beginner batch (Age 7-9)

Friday 5:30pm-6:30pm Teen beginner batch (Age 13-17)

Other private lessons will be schedule upon convenience on both parties

What are the expectations for each class?

Students must incorporate practice time into their weekly routines. It is not possible to progress or learn this dance form well without any practice. Class is only once a week and one hour a week, to fully grasps the nuances of this dance form, a lot of practice will be required. Parents should help their children to practice using the instructional videos posted on students portal.
